What is "local" honey

Simply put, local honey is honey produced and consumed in the same ecoregion.  An ecoregion has similar floral sources and pollens associated with those blooms.  Those are the pollens that end up in your honey.  There are 10 major ecoregions in the state of Texas.  Some regions in the hill country are very small and local honey might be restricted to dozens of miles.  The Gulf Coast region we are in is fairly large, extending up nearly to the Conroe area and Piney woods.
